Frequently asked Questions:

What is your hiring area?

Our hiring area is West-Central Ohio.  It is preferred that drivers live within 50 miles of our yard in Jackson Center, OH.  We will hire drivers that live a little outside of the 50 miles if they are willing to make the drive to Jackson Center, OH to work in their personal vehicle each week.

What is your home-time?

We relay loads through our yard and service customers in West-Central Ohio, which gets the truck back to the yard in-between runs and the driver takes 34 hour reset at home each week.

What are your requirements?

Class-A CDL with two years of experience and a good safety record.  Experience along with any violations are considered on an individual basis.

Are you SAP friendly?

No, we are not SAP friendly to new applicants.

Do you allow pets?

Yes, we are pet friendly for small to medium sized dogs up to about 50 pounds and of friendly breeds.  Sorry but since we have to go onto customer property and are exposed to the liabilities of being out in the public we cannot allow Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, German Shepherds, Doberman Pinschers, and Chow Chows.

Do you have a passenger policy?

Yes, we have a “restricted and limited” passenger policy and it does not allow a passenger all the time.  Approval from management is on a case-by-case basis.

What area would I run as a Regional Driver?

The routes for our Regional Driver position consists of two runs a week to and from West-Central Ohio area to various points with a radius of 500 to 800 miles one-way.  The lanes are mostly South-east, South, and Mid-West. No North-East.  No West-Coast.  95% no-touch.  Our Regional drivers run 2500 – 3200 miles per week.

What does the schedule look like for a Regional Driver?

The Regional Driver schedule usually consists of a Sunday morning leave and the week usually ends Friday morning or afternoon depending on various factors.  If you are a truck driver, you know how weather, mechanical issues, accident delays and customer load times can interrupt a drivers’ schedule.

What is the pay and benefits?

Driver pay is at a per mile rate based on years of previous experience.  Then, pay increases are annually for years of safe driving and increased years of experience.  Regional drivers at Rising Sun average $1600 per week or $75k per year.  Paid vacation, holiday pay, 401k with company match, three plan options for medical insurance, company paid dental, vision, short-term disability, and life.

Do you have any bonuses?

When a driver applicant states they were referred by an employee, that employee receives a Driver Referral Bonus when qualified applicant is interviewed, completed 90 days of employment and at one year.  Rising Sun pays a year-end bonus around the holidays when the company is doing well.  The company also shows its appreciation and recognition through “Years of Service Awards” and “Years of Safe Driving Awards” including “Million Mile Safe Driving Awards”.
